Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults - RCIA

Adults Becoming Catholics at St. Brendan's:  Saint Brendan

“RCIA opened up my heart and welcomed me into a loving community like never before.” Liz

“I felt like I had been welcomed into a whole new family.” Karen

“The RCIA journey helped me to recognise my relationship with God and the great love and joy which comes with a life of faith.” Kathy

What a great joy it is for us to see adults coming to faith and developing a loving relationship with God. Each year we share great joy in witnessing a number of adults wishing to grow in faith through joining the Catholic Church. Sometimes adults feel a bit embarrassed about seeking baptism, but we reassure them that Jesus called adults to faith. The baptism of children followed on as households wanted their children to grow up in the practice of the faith with them.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a voyage of discovery with people who would like to learn about, and join, our Catholic Faith. The process is like an open window which lets people see into our faith, learn, ask questions and share their stories.

St. Brendan's Parish invites all interested people to join us in this journey as faith awakens. RCIA starts in September and flows through until Easter (usually April) when candidates are welcomed into the church at the Easter Vigil Mass.

We have weekly meetings which include Scripture reflections, a focus topic exploring the Sacraments and Rituals of the Catholic Faith. We have a tour of the church, and guest speakers on many relevant topics. We do not meet during school or Christmas holidays.
